Innkeeping Intro

Hello there! Thanks for stopping by our blog! Several folks have encouraged me to start a blog. It is my hope that the blog isn't just one sided and that it can give us a way to interact and stay in touch even when you are away from the Inn.
So Here Goes...

Does anyone dream of becoming an Innkeeper when they grow up? Making a career out of the chores your parents begged you to do; laundry, bed making, cleaning, dishes, cooking etc.

Well, If you asked me at age 5, 10, 18 my career choice was an "Astronaut". Innkeeping wasn't even a thought, interest or possibility until staying at a bed and breakfast for the first time during our pandemic cross country adventure. After meeting the owners of these BnBs, they genuinely seemed to enjoy hosting guests and they lived somewhere beautiful, somewhere people chose to vacation. How bad could it be?

Fast forward 2 years and we were lucky to find the North Fork Mountain Inn!

It is my hope to share a glimpse of our journey. You may have heard me say "the mountain and inn keeping has made us better people". I'll touch upon this more in a future post, but you can use your imagination in the meantime.

Some of the most rewarding aspects of inn keeping is meeting the variety of people, sharing stories, learning random facts all from the comforts of our ‘Home'!

Future blog posts/topics include but are not limited to: Chores for Living #InnParadise , Mountain Living, Mushrooms, Birds, The Beautiful People.

Thanks for listening and following our journey.

Perseid Meteor Shower

It's that time of year again... Perseid Meteor Shower! Hopefully, we will have clear skies during the peak, scheduled for August 12th & 13th. Leading up to the peak, chances of seeing meteors or 'shooting stars' is increased. Keep your eye on the sky!

The first time I witnessed the Perseid Meteor Shower, I was in Maine camping with my Mom at the ripe young age of 12. No phone apps or Google to inform us, just the endless sky of mystery lit up with colorful streaks and stary speckles. We laid on our backs on our air mattresses and watched the sky for what felt like hours. We could hear other campers across the way "Oohing & Ahhing" in delight as the long tailed meteors shot across the sky. This moment felt magical and embodied the Disney phrase "When You Wish Upon a Star".

It is remarkable that the Perseid Meteor Shower happens every year as a result of Earth's orbit intersecting the debris trail left behind from the Comet Swift-Tuttle. Checkout the link below for more information.

Since West Virginia is known for its Dark Skies, the Inn is a great place for Stargazing!
