South Branch of the Potomac River, in Smoke Hole Canyon, has excellent fishing, where you can catch smallmouth bass, some largemouth bass, trout (rainbow, brook, brown and golden rainbow), channel catfish, eel and carp. There is also fishing along the North Fork South Branch of the Potomac River at the Seneca Rocks area. If you want to travel about 1 ½ hours you can go to also Spruce Knob Lake. You can also get a fishing license by calling 1-800-992-4348, and having your driver’s license and credit card ready. You can also visit the Petersburg Fish Hatchery, “home of the golden trout,” between 8:00 AM and 4:00
